When most people think about a corporate headshot, their mind immediately wonders to a drab place, devoid of color or substance. Washed out colors and awkward images cropped in weird places. The forced smile and the un-welcomed attention that it brings. I think that we are better than this and we as photographers have to do better.

It’s always about making the subject feel comfortable, strike up a conversation, take their mind of the flashes, the speed lights, you tinkering with the lens, and camera. Instead focus on getting genuine emotion. I do what I like to call capturing someone as they experience an emotion, tell a joke (if your funny) strike up a conversation, take a few staged shots and then take a few real ones.
That’s what makes a great shot an amazing one.
